

Eva passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29. Eva is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas L. O’Hara and Eva M. O’Hara (Bees); loving husband Norman E. Eberts; brothers Thomas and his wife Jane O’Hara (Farmer); brother Edgar O’Hara; sister Patricia Ann Kakos and her husband Spiros Kakos. Eva is survived by her sister Mary Catherine Judge; sister-in-law Vera O’Hara (Wancha); many nieces, nephews, and stepchildren.
Eva was born on November 3, 1937, in Ecorse, Michigan. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in River Rouge, Michigan, on June 10, 1956. Her illustrious career in the banking field began in September of 1956, when she first hired into Down River Federal Savings Bank in River Rouge, MI, as a teller. She was then transferred to the Allen Park office as head teller. From there she became the very first female branch manager in the Trenton, MI office. Subsequently, she moved on to become manager of Down River Federal Savings, Southgate and Lincoln Park offices. A promotion elevated her to Corporate Security Officer and Senior Regional Manager at the home office in Taylor, MI (also known as Heritage Bank). Finally, she was promoted to Vice President at the corporate office.
At 29 years old Eva became an active member of the Soroptimist International of Wyandotte-Southgate-Taylor. The Soroptimist International is a volunteer organization dedicated to empowering women and girls. Eva was a very dedicated member throughout her career. She served as president of the association as well as the district 3 director, and then the secretary of the Mid-western Region, which covered eight states.
Eva married Norman Edward Eberts on May 19, 1984. After marriage they continued to live in Wyandotte, Michigan, and became snowbirds in Marco Island, Florida. After retirement, Eva and Norman became fulltime residents of Marco Island. They both lived very happily in Florida while perfecting the landscape of their home, feeding birds and butterflies, doing home renovation projects, reading, watching old classic movies (especially John Wayne, Robert Redford, and Clint Eastwood movies). Cooking and baking were a huge part of their life together as well as entertaining and being together with their multitude of family members.
Eva will surely be missed by her family and friends.
