James Michael Carlin

August 12, 1954 – July 2, 2025

James Michael Carlin, loving son of James and Virginia Carlin, loyal brother to sisters Joan and Sharon, passed away at home in Naples, FL. Jim grew up in Elmhurst, IL and graduated from York Community High School. During his time at York, Jim was a cross country runner where Coach Newton bolstered his confidence, and drive to achieve. Jim attended Loyola University, Chicago receiving his Bachelor degree in Political Science. He completed his formal education at DePaul University, receiving a Master of Science in Accounting, and earned his CPA certification. Jim lived in the Houston, TX area for most of his career in the Energy sector, traveling extensively. Jim also greatly enjoyed his time teaching Business Classes at the University of Phoenix, Houston Campus. Throughout his life, Jim continued to return to Collier County where he spent family vacations. Jim relocated to Marco Island when he retired and eventually made his home in Naples.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Joan, aunts and uncles, and cousins Suzanne and Paulette. Jim is survived and greatly missed by his sister Sharon, cousins Michael, Rosemary, Kevin and Margaret, and many friends. Jim will be remembered by those who knew him as dependable and hard working with a delightful sense of humor. A heartfelt Thank You is extended to Jim’s wonderful neighbors, who together looked out for him and have been so kind. Thank you also to everyone who has offered prayers and sent their condolences. A private ceremony for Jim and Joan will be held later this year.
