

Katherine G. Prout of Marco Island, FL passed away on February 26, 2016. She was born in Chicago, IL on November 22, 1944 and graduated from Amundsen High School in Chicago. Katy married John Prout on May 23, 1970. In the 70’s Katy was co-owner of Curcie Brother’s Plumbing in Freeport, Bahamas, and then owner/manager of the Tahitian Garden Apartments on Marco Island from 1976-1985. Katy’s greatest accomplishment was Prout’s Plumbing which she currently co-owned with her husband . A successful business for over 35 years, her phrase, “Don’t pout, call Prout” became synonymous for their plumbing business. Katy had a passion for helping people, especially her employees and friends and loved to see people’s lives improved through education and home ownership. Marco was home for Katy from the first day she crossed over the bridge in 1972, she knew Marco was where she wanted to be. From her early years of boating, tennis and volunteer effort at the YMCA to her years as a business owner, Katy loved everything about Marco, especially watching the Dolphins play in her back yard. The Summer property in Tellico Plaines, Tennessee was also special to Katy. She made great friends and developed a family retreat where she was able to enjoy her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Katy loved her lilies, garden, ducks, fish and the beauty that surrounded her. She is survived by her loving husband John Prout, children Cheryl Prout Michaud (Roland), Cynthia Prout Pierce (Joel), Stepsons Jim Prout (Tammy), John Prout (Diane) and grandchildren Ryan, Morgan, Shane, Matthew, Jr, Julie, Jessica, Faith, and Savannah. She was predeceased by her son John Prout III, and her sister Helen Lucker. Katy’s family will receive friends on Saturday March 5, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Hodges Josberger Funeral Home 577 E Elkcam Cir Marco Island, FL with a Memorial Service set to take place at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
