Kathleen Drummond Kautzky, born on December 10, 1941, in Havertown, Pennsylvania, was sent to her eternal home on June 14, 2025 in Naples, Florida. She was the beloved daughter of Justin and Mary Drummond.
Kathleen was a strong, smart, and determined woman in everything she did, never afraid to tackle challenges in her life.
She was a graduate of Mater Misericordiae Academy (1959) in Philadelphia, Chestnut Hill College (B.S. Chemistry 1963) and the University of Illinois (M.S. Chemistry 1965). After working as a chemist at DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware, she married her husband Don in 1966 and worked at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York before becoming a full-time homemaker. That choice in no way diminished her natural curiosity, her love of reading, music and science, and her competitive drive. A mother of two, she led a rich home life that exposed her children to a wide set of interests that passed on her loves while keeping exploration, education, faith and fairness at the center. Eager for a new challenge, Kathleen returned to work in 1985 at H&R Block, where she became a top tax preparer in their Executive Tax Services division and a trusted friend to many on her team. During her life, she and Don travelled the world together with many dear friends, visiting over thirty countries. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely. In 2008, after seven years of snowbirding, she and Don became full-time residents of Marco Island, where she enjoyed many years before moving to a continuing care community.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Justin and Mary. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Don Kautzky of Naples, Florida; her daughter Lisa (BJ) Austin of Medina, Ohio; her son Michael (Linda) Kautzky of Eagan, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Justin, Jenna, Emily, and Carina; and her brother Jay (Suzanne) Drummond, and sisters Mary Jane (Tom) Smith and Anita (Bill) Bronstein.
A visitation will be held at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home located at 577 East Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, Florida from 4-6pm Friday, June 20, 2025. A funeral mass will take place at San Marco Catholic Church on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11am at 851 San Marco Rd, Marco Island, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Food for the Poor (www.foodforthepoor.org).
