Mr. Barney Russell Evans Jr.

Mr. Barney Russell Evans, Jr. 75 of Marietta died Friday, August 27, 2010. Mr. Evans served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a former Engineer at Lockheed in Marietta. He was a member of the Lions Club, Powers Ferry United Methodist Church and a former member of Gate City #2 Masonic Lodge F&AM. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Evans and brother, Harry Evans. Mr. Evans is survived by his wife; Carolyn Rutledge Evans; daughter, Carolyn Rene` Curtis and her Husband Russ of Jonesboro, GA; brothers, Don Evans of Villa Rica, GA; Larry Evans of Argyle, GA; and Jesse Evans of Lakeland, GA; sister, Shirley Corbitt of Lakeland, GA; grandchildren, Michelle Kretzschmar and her husband Todd of Allen, TX; John Curtis of Jonesboro, GA; Stephanie Evans and Rachel Evans both of Marietta, GA; great-grandson, Alex Kretzschmar of Allen, TX. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Powers Ferry United Methodist Church with Rev. Jane Nugent,Dr. David Bowen and Dr. Michael Cavin officiating. Burial will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Powers Ferry United Methodist Church.
