

Betty Shinnamon Brenner, 87, of Marietta, Georgia, died Saturday, May 5, 2012. Born and raised in the Baltimore, Maryland area, Betty served as a WAVE in the United States Navy and it was in Washington, D.C. where she met her late husband, Thomas Bayard Brenner. They began their 57 years of married life in Miami, Florida in 1946. Thomas's career with Prudential Insurance moved them to Atlanta and then to Cincinnati where they raised their three children. After retirement, they returned to Georgia, settling in Marietta where they were active members of Holy Family Catholic Church. Above all, Mrs. Brenner was a devoted mother. She enjoyed watching Braves baseball, as well as activities with her Red Hats group and was a longtime member of the American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, George Lambert Brenner (Linda) of Glenview, Illinois and Thomas Bayard Brenner, Jr. of Alpharetta, one daughter, Marianne Brenner Bogan (Larry) of Marietta, three grandsons, Nicholas and Jameson Brenner of Glenview, and Thomas J. Bogan III of Marietta, and several generations of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6-8p.m.Thursdayat Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30a.m., Friday, May 11, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Marietta.
