Mr. McDowell was a veteran of the Unites States Air Force and worked for Lockheed and Metal Coaters of Georgia in Marietta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Louise Carver McDowell; brother, Dewayne McDowell; sister, Loretta McDowell.
Survived by his wife of 48 years, Marsha Kaye Stephens McDowell; children, Melissa Michelle Cole; Carlos R. McDowell, Jr.; brothers, Verlon McDowell, Dennis McDowell; sisters, Joyce Stamey, Wynona Blackstock; granddaughter, Dakota McAllister; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 5 at 2 PM in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. Evangelist Michelle Cole will officiate.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 6 until 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
