

Carol Ann Bannon Brown, age 83, of East Cobb passed away on Saturday, December 28th. She was born in 1941 in Meadville, PA, to Paul and Mary Bannon. She is survived by three children - Tim Brown, Kathleen Peneguy, and Cindy Brown, sister-in-law Marianne Heckman, and brother-in-law Robert Swab. Survivors also include a son-in-law Todd Peneguy, daughter-in-law Amy Sarver-Brown, three grandchildren - Catherine Housley, Emma Peneguy, and Luke Peneguy, and several cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Wahl Brown, her parents, a brother Paul Bannon Jr., and a grandson William Stewart Brown.
Carol grew up in Meadville, PA, birthplace of the zipper. She took over the family cooking and baking responsibilities at a young age and ultimately realized that she had a talent in the kitchen. She received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. Carol was teaching in Pittsburgh when she met her husband to be, William Brown. They were engaged within a few months. After having their third child, the Brown's moved to Marietta, GA. Carol was very active in her parish at the Catholic Church of St. Ann. For many years, she was a Parish School of Religion teacher, active member of the Women's Guild and past President, headed the Apple Annie Arts and Crafts Fair, and the yearly garage sale. She also managed the Parish Center and kitchen at St. Ann. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, picking her blueberries for her wonderful desserts, sharing her beautiful roses from her garden with friends, baking award winning apple pies, and making her signature stuffing at Thanksgiving. Carol was an avid bird watcher, animal lover, and gardener.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 15th at H.M. Patterson & Sons Canton Hill Chapel in Marietta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 16th, at the Catholic Church of St. Ann, reception to follow in the social hall. Carol will be interred with her husband at the Georgia National Cemetery on Friday, January 17th.
