Carolyn was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 30, 1947 to the late David and Dorothy Sims.
Carol, as she was known to all who loved her, was a warm, loving, caring and giving person. Carolyn was the devoted wife of the Late Thomas Lee Matthews for 28 years and resided in Stanton, California.
Carolyn was employed at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach, California from where she later retired. Carolyn relocated to Georgia in 2011 and enjoyed the retirement life.
Carolyn was a devoted member at Faith, Hope and Love Church under the leadership of Pastor Donnie and Pat Lewis, where she served as a Deaconess. Carolyn enjoyed serving those in need and fellowshipping at church along with traveling and cruising.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories to her daughter, Marilynn Bowie (Kinte Marshall) and granddaughter Christina Watkins. Three sisters; Sandra White, Joan Brown (Nathaniel), June Martin and One brother Michael Ambeau (Diana); and a host of in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents - David and Dorthy Sims, Husband - Thomas Lee Matthews, One sister - Barbara Williams, Two brother in laws - Mike White and Thomas Martin.
