Charles Dean Brownlow, born December 5, 1932, passed away on October 29, 2018 after a long fight with Alzheimer's. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Virginia F. and Roy M. Brownlow.
Dean grew up in the Sylvan Hills Community of Atlanta, graduated from Georgia Military Academy and Southern Tech, now Kennesaw State College. In the early 1950's, joined his father and brother's business - Brownlow and Sons, General Contracting Company of Atlanta, which he ran for many years and is now operated by his son and grandson.
His life was centered by his faith, his family and friends and love of outdoors. He always had a large garden from which he fed family, neighbors and friends and the Cobb County Food Bank. He enjoyed traveling, especially with friends and family.
Dean is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ann Lytle Brownlow; sons, Chuck D. Brownlow, Jr. and wife Jamie, Mark Brownlow and wife Lisa; daughter, Julie Hopson; grandchildren: Dena (Shaun) Boyd, Shelby Hopson, Katy (Charlie) Colston, Matthew Brownlow, Daniel (Vanessa) Brownlow, Kristen Brownlow, Mitchell Brownlow, Taylor Brownlow, Eli Cox, Gina Daren -Main and four great grandchildren; sister and brother in-laws - Fred and Linda Lytle and Lyn and Tom Beier.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Patty Brownlow and grandson, Michael Hopson, brother Roy A. Brownlow.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 from the Chapel of HM Patterson and Son, Canton Hill with Dr. Charles Sineath officiating.
