Cynthia Allen Engels

Cynthia Allen Engels went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 6, 2022 in Marietta, Georgia. Cynthia was born in Tarrytown, New York on June 3, 1952 to L. Duncan Allen Jr. and Nancy Bristol Allen. At an early age her family moved to La Grange, Georgia.

After high school she attended Young Harris College and Troupe County Technical School. She excelled in typing and administration. She then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked for Trust Company Bank, later Sun Trust Bank. Her career there lasted over thirty years, working in various departments.

On October 7, 1978 Cynthia married Larry B. Engels of Atlanta, formerly of Nashville, Tennessee. They were blessed with a son Bret Allen Engels in 1989.

Cynthia had many interests, but her family and church were her most important. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and Eastside Baptist Church, both of Marietta. She participated regularly with both churches. Her favorite religious topic was Revelation and Prophecy. Cynthia loved all animals and enjoyed her beloved Shih Tzus and her cats. She especially enjoyed her times in Florida walking on the beach and watching the hummingbirds.

Cynthia is survived by her son, Bret A. Engels, her husband, Larry B. Engels, her brothers, Duncan Allen and Peter Allen, her sister Phoebe Allen, and her nieces, great niece and great nephew.

A private family interment service will be held at her parents’ church in La Grange, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cynthia’s name may be made to Agape Hospice.
