Happy Birthday, Daniye 

Happy Birthday, Daniye my forever 24.
I sometimes wonder how you would be aging -how your face would look. We have changed so much in these past three years, more than ever before. There is a saying, “ሰው ኑሮውን ይመስላል” you look like your life. The weight we have carried these three years, and even before that since you were sick, has been so heavy. But then again, you knew some of it  except the weight of loss itself.

I miss you, Daniye. I miss you so much, and there is nothing that can be done. I ask God, the Creator — the One who can do everything — from all His abundance, He could have taken away the pain and the suffering, yet He chose this, and I will never understand why. 

Happy Birthday, Daniye. Fall is here, bringing with it warmth, memories , and your love. I don’t know how, but I see you  walking through the front door wearing the same green jacket. I sense you, I even smell you. They are good memories, yet filled with such sadness. This is not how life was supposed to be  but what choice do we have?

Even though we’ve been placed in this tragedy of losing you, what breaks me most is how your young life, so full of love, ended with such sadness and pain. I know you are far more than your pain. You were the strongest, most resilient soul I have ever known. You carried all your pain with grace. But deep inside, I still know you didn’t deserve any of it  and that makes me so sad.

I love you. I look for you through the cardinals in the day and the moon at night. You know I talk to you all the time.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” You have seen Him now, Daniye my love, and I know you are safe — surrounded by His angels, forever home.

Today is the day Danny chose to make life better for us—or maybe that’s what he believed.
Or perhaps… it was the day he wanted it all to end.
The pain.
The struggle.
The sadness, the trials, the endless trying…
All the agony life gave him.

For me, I still see him.

I see the sadness in his eyes, the exhaustion in his soul—
But also the love. The kindness.
The way he always respected others,
The way he pushed his pain aside for your sake—for mine, for anyone’s.
That is the Danny I still see.
That is the Danny I will always love.

He’s not here with me anymore.
I wish I could bring him back.
But then again—did I protect him?
Could I have saved him?
Could I have lessened his pain?

I begged God.
Danny begged God.
What now?

Why do I still see him like that?
Oh, Daniye, my love…
I want you to release all of it.
I want you to rest from all the agony.
To have the peace that was so long denied to you.
To smile again—like you did when you were a child, and more.
To be whole, free, joyful in the presence of your Heavenly Father—
The One who knew you even before we did.

Every day, I pray for you.
To be wrapped in God’s eternal embrace.
To find the comfort you longed for.

And though I will never stop missing you,
I trust—somehow—that God had His reason to take you so young.
So I ask Him now:
Take care of my baby.
Love him for me.
Hold him when I no longer can.

I can’t believe it’s been two years without talking to you, without touching you, without hugging you. I miss you every minute, the world doesn’t make sense without your heart. My baby, my love, my angel. I know you are at peace, no pain, no hurt surrounded by the angels with your Father. Go spread your wings my angel, no more pain and suffering. This world is not for you. This world doesn’t deserve you.

I‘m unbelievably sad to hear this. Dani’s smile lighted up every room and I remember him as the most caring boy. I pray for your family and send you strength and faith to make it through this difficult time. Dani will live in our hearts forever.

It hurts to lose you and it breaks my heart, Dannye. Such a handsome and humble young man, who was always saying “Eshi” (alright) if he was asked. Never wanted to be the attention seeking person. Back in 2014, I remember as we traveled to Atlanta, you hugged Eden and played Piano for her - although you were very young, your willingness to take care of others was unbelievable. 
We already miss your hugs, Dannye.
I know you are in a better place and in God’s almighty hands now.

You will always live with me Danny Boy. I always remember when we were young, when you, me and noel played all summer long, and wished it wouldn't end. My heart will never really stop hurting, We all just have to believe this is God's way. I hope I make it into heaven and see you again brother. Pray for us all. I know HE listens to you. Our family will not be the same without _you danyboy__ . I know we’ll find comfort in each other and we”ll get through this together.

Daniel has always been the greatest friend to me. He was always there, always putting himself before others.  Our friendship was like no other. 

Something about him just brought out the best in others and in me. We just understood eachother. I remember when we met in middle school we would see eachother in the morning in the library just before school would start. We used to make so much noise in that library hahaha, so much noise that I eventually got banned from the library. After that we didn't see eachother much at school becasue we didn't have classes together. Somehow despite that we found a way to stay in touch. I saw something special in him back then and I'm so greatful to have known him over tye years. Some of my favorite memories of Daniel were back in high-school. He would always take me home after school. I would always express my anxieties over my math exams and he would sit there and listen even though he knew that I probably passed. Each time it was me thinking I failed and later we'd both share a laugh when I realized I got an A after receiving my test scores. Those days were so special to me. We would just sit parked outside my house and just talk for hours. Things were so simple back then. 

When college started he became more involved in his studies what was once the two of us seeing eachother each day, turned to weeks, and those weeks turned to months. It got to the point were we'd only see eachother once or twice during the off seasons. And even though the time we spent together was less, I still cherished it all the same if not more. 
I never blamed him for taking time for himself.
I never stopped loving him even though we couldn't see eachother as often. He never did wrong by me and i hope I did the same for him. Even in his absence he continues to bring such value to my life. Daniel is hands down my best friend.  He will always hold that place in my heart until the day I stop walking God's green earth.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Daniels passing. We pray that the family be blessed with strength, comfort and peace. I will always remember Daniel. It hurts to lose someone that you have interacted with since his childhood in the neighborhood.
