

Ernest was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Doris Seat Hawkins and Ernest Hawkins Jr. on April 30, 1948. He attended Hillsboro High School in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated from Memphis State University. He worked as a physician recruiter for 33 years and retired from Community Health Systems of Franklin, Tennessee in 2014. He loved the Lord and his family. He was an avid fisherman and fan of Auburn and SEC football.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Carney Maney Hawkins, and three daughters, Rachael Hawkins Branyon (Danny) of Greenville, South Carolina; Abby Hawkins Edema (George) of Birmingham, Alabama; Sarah Hawkins McKinney of Powder Springs, Georgia. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Sarah Adeline, Catherine Grace, Phoebe Joy, and Daniel Branyon Jr.; Amabel, August, and Elspeth Edema; Seth, Gavin, Peyton, and Liam McKinney. He is also survived by his younger brother, Ross Massey (Lynda); younger sister, Elaine Hawkins Conese (Vince); and older sister, Carole Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his older sister, Christine Hawkins.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. (CST), October 14, 2021 at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with Reverend George Edema, son-in-law of the deceased, officiating. Arrangements are by Georgia Memorial Park.
