Franklin Arthur Collins (Frank) was born December 20, 1943 in Raleigh, N.C. He lived his early years in Atlanta, where he graduated Grady High School. It was here, encouraged and inspired by band director Mr. Owen Seitz, that his love of music was born. He earned his BA in music at the University of Kentucky. Although legally blind, Frank used every resource available to have a full and interesting life. He played four instruments and pursued an interest in photography, joining a photography club and participating in outings with the group. His fascination with computers led to him to earn an MBA from the University of Northern Kentucky with a specialty in IT. He retired from the IRS in 2016 where he had served in the Securities Division.
Frank was devoted to his family and always stayed connected to his sister, Jackie. He loved his nieces and nephews, and later grandniece and nephews, and was always interested in their lives. Frank was gifted with a fine mind, a prodigious memory and knowledge of a wide range of topics. He was extraordinarily generous and maintained an optimistic outlook in spite of daily struggles.
Frank was predeceased by his mother Kathleen J. Jones and his niece Valerie Landers. He is survived by¬¬ his sister, Jackie Poole and husband Jerry, nephew Allen Landers, ¬¬¬ nieces Laura Eastham (Andrew), and Elizabeth Woodward (Jon) and by one grandniece and two grandnephews. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
