Gina was born in Dumaguete City, Philippines, the daughter of Julio and Maxima Elnacin. She grew up in Dumaguete with her older brother Narding and younger sister Bebie and was inspired by her hardworking parents to dream big. She took a leap of faith emigrating to Toronto in 1988 at only 24 years old. Despite not knowing a single person in Canada at the time of her move, Gina’s incredible courage and determination helped her build a new life abroad. It was in Toronto that Gina met Paul, who she married in 1989. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Ginelle and Leigh Ann, before relocating to St. Louis in 1995 to raise their family.
Gina’s love for her family knew no bounds. Perhaps the only thing she valued as much as her family was her faith in God. Gina was a staple at daily morning mass, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and Couples for Christ events where she was able to share her joy and devotion to God with others. Gina combined her faith with her love of travel by embarking on international Catholic pilgrimages. Some of her most meaningful trips were to places like Our Lady of Fátima, Vatican City, Our Lady of Lourdes, and Medjugorje, seeking grace at these holy sites and offering prayers for her loved ones. Whether in times of health or hardship, Gina’s faith remained unshakeable throughout her life.
Gina is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; her daughter, Ginelle and her spouse Collin; her daughter Leigh Ann; her grandchildren, Ella and George; her mother, Maxima; her sister, Bebie; and her brother, Narding. Her legacy of love and prayer will live on in all who knew her.
