Helen B Pattillo

Mrs. Helen Brinkley Pattillo was born in Boswell, Oklahoma in March 4, 1924 as the second oldest of 6 children. During the Great Depression she moved to Atlanta to take a job that her uncle MD Harper had arranged for her and she never returned. She had started taking night classes to advance her education when she met Morgan Pattillo in her early 20s. She was wooed by Morgan, as women are attracted to men in uniform. Morgan took her out for a drive in his red convertible, and she was smitten. But this is the last time that Morgan ever drove her anywhere as Helen did most of the driving. She was a loving wife to Morgan, and loving mother to their three children, Robert Allen, Betty Jean and David Donald. She was a caring grandmother to six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Helen was a great cook, making Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners for her large family. She made the best dressing, and that cast iron pan will be fought over by the grand children. Helen loved working the land to grow her own flowers and vegetable garden. To enjoy the natural food it provided, she would can the vegetables and store them away. She also enjoyed traveling the world with her family. Many fantastic adventures were hers to treasure.

Many wonderful times were spent relaxing at the beach in Destin, enjoying some great seafood at The Boathouse, and spending time with all her family. Family was an important part of her life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helen's family will gather to honor and celebrate her life at 1:00 o'clock, Thursday, May 24th, 2018, in the Chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway S.E., Marietta, Georgia, 30060. Her family will receive friends from Wednesday evening, May 23rd, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00 o'clock, at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery. Following the service, Mrs. Pattillo's interment will be on the grounds of Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
