Henry T. Graves, Jr., 77 of Marietta, GA passed away on the morning of July 9, 2021, in his home of 44 years surrounded by his loving family. He attended Cartersville High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Henry served as an officer in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and worked in the fields of civil engineering and landscape design for many years.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Henry. He loved a quiet day at home watching golf and football, Cheers, Seinfeld and The Office. Henry spent much of his free time cultivating his tomatoes, vegetable garden, and maple seedlings. If you're ever been fortunate enough to try Henry's homemade salsa, you could feel the love and dedication he put into his lifelong hobby. He cherished time with his family and loved going on walks, hikes, grilling regardless of the weather, and taking the scenic route on any drive. He was a charter member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and loved his quiet mornings sipping coffee and reading the Bible. Henry will always be known for his humor, sarcasm, affection and contagious laugh. He will forever be held in our hearts as our "yard-man".
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Henry Graves, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Doris; two daughters, Laura MacAdam and her husband, Dave of Alpharetta, Julie Bowman of St. Petersburg, FL; former son-in-law, Glenn Bowman of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Alvan Graves of Hiawassee; three grandchildren: Ashley, Jack and Liam; four step grandchildren, Edmond, Kate, Jane and Lenore.
A celebration of Live is scheduled for Wednesday, July 14, from 5 pm until 7 pm at HM PATTERSON AND SON CANTON HILL CHAPEL for family and friends.
