

Born in 1932, she was the daughter of the late Fred C. Schneider and Barbara Reiss Schneider.
Joan graduated from the Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing with a certificate in nursing and went on to serve as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Queens, New York, where she dedicated her career until retirement. Compassionate, skilled, and steadfast in her commitment to others, she touched countless lives through her work.
Outside of her profession, Joan lived a vibrant and active life. She was deeply involved in cycling as an International Commissaire, proudly officiating events at 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, 1996 Atlanta Olympics, numerous Para and Special Olympics; Junior World Championships and ultimately being honored with induction into the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame. She was also an avid bridge player, a passionate sailor, and a joyful traveler who explored the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. Above all, Joan cherished time spent with her family and friends, whose lives are richer for having known her.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Peter O. Durdaller.
She is survived by her children: Peter J Durdaller (Shira Robbins), Paul G. Durdaller (Joyce Durdaller), Jeanne R. Perrone (Bill Perrone), John F. Durdaller (Carmen Durdaller), Lisa A. Favata; grandchildren: Christiaan Durdaller (Amanda), Allison Perrone, Sarah French (Sam), Brian Durdaller, Matthew Grover, Austin Durdaller, David Durdaller, Johana Robbins, Lily Robbins; great grandchildren: William Finch and Dakota Durdaller. She is also survived by her siblings, Fred Schneider (Ann) and Mary Ann Lovizio.
The family will receive friends at HM Patterson and Son Canton Hill Chapel, Monday, December 15, 2025 from 5 until 7 pm with a Rosary held at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass at St. Ann Catholic Church, 4905 Roswell Road, Marietta, GA will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made in Joan’s name to St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church in Brooksville, Florida, or St. Ann Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia.
