

Judy C. Martin passed away at the age of 72 after losing her battle with dementia and kidney failure. Judy performed CAPD dialysis for over thirty years and was known as the longest living CAPD dialysis patient in the world. She was born on February 2, 1942 in North Carolina, daughter of William Moore Nicholson and Mabel Rhodes Nicholson. She graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Education and taught first grade on Reese Air Force Base, Lubbock, TX. Everyone loved her optimistic attitude towards life especially when she was storytelling with eager listeners. Judy’s smile and laughter filled the room. She was an outgoing person, loving mother, grandmother, and wife. She is survived by her husband of 50 years W.A. “Buddy” Martin, daughter Sheri L. Martin, son Timothy A. “Rusty” Martin, sister Ann Ashford, brother Bill Nicholson, and grandsons Daniel & David Martin. Receiving of friends will be at 7:00 to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, January 28th at H.M. Patterson & Son-Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Rd., Marietta, GA 30068 (770-977-9485). A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 29th at St. James Episcopal Church, 161 Church Street, Marietta, GA 30060 (770-428-5841). Interment Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, January 31st at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC, 28212 (704-537-5011).
