Larry Allen Manuel was born April 3rd, 1955, in Columbus County, Whitesville, North Carolina to Walter (Sr.) and Ernestine Manuel. He departed this earthly life on Sunday March 19th, 2023, while visiting his eldest son (Eric Manuel) and daughter-in-law (Wendy Manuel) in Madison, Alabama.
Larry began his education at Carver Elementary School, before moving to New York and entering Richmond High School in Manhattan. As he progressed in the New York City school system, he became known as a good kid and well-mannered student who was always with his older brother affectionately known as (Billy Ray). After high school, Larry joined the United States Army full-time where he met his future wife, Mary H. Manuel. After some time, they married on December 8th, 1976. Along with Larry and Mary’s eldest son (Eric), they would later have two additional children: daughter (Onika) and youngest son (Ron).
Larry served in the military from 1973 to 1993 in assignments such as South Korea, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Stuttgart, West Germany, Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, Frankfurt, West Germany, and Pittsburgh, PA where he retired from his 20 years of service. Larry was a Combat Engineer, a Drill Sergeant, and a trainer for the Oakdale Readiness Group. Larry ended his distinguished career as a Sergeant First Class and began a new career as a construction worker and full-time truck driver.
Larry ministered full-time to multiple people and co-founded Women of Divine Destiny, while being a member at World Changers Church International and Word of Faith in Austell with his wife Mary. Based locally, Women of Divine Destiny was a traveling ministry which ministered to those who were hungry for the Word of God. The ministry conducted back-to-school, Thanksgiving, and Christmas meals. Larry was a TRUE prayer warrior, interceding for multiple friends and various family members. No matter what time (day or night), he was never too busy to stand in the gap for whomever needed it! Reverend Manuel not only talked it… he walked it and was for real… for The Lord!!
Prior to his passing, Larry mourned the loss of his father, Walter Manuel Sr., his mother, Ernestine Manuel, his older brother, George Manuel, younger brother, Jeff Manuel, his daughter, Onika Sharmaine Manuel, and the love of his life, Mary Helen Manuel.
He leaves to cherish his legacy: his eldest son, Eric (Wendy), of Madison, Alabama; his youngest son, Ron (Hanna), of Osan Air Base, South Korea; his 4 grandchildren, Jaylen (Tiara), Joshua, Alex, Kyranna Reilly, great granddaughter, Taylen Manuel, his 2 sisters, Dixie Manuel and Brenda Strickland, and 3 brothers, Walter Jr, Billy Ray, Andy Manuel, and a host of loving nieces and nephews which he loved as his own children.
