On December 26, 2023, Laureen Susan Johnson (“Laurie”) passed away after a prolonged illness. Laurie was born in Waukegan, IL in 1953 and was a graduate of Waukegan Township Highschool in 1971. She eventually moved to Marietta, GA, where she worked for, and retired with the Center for Disease Control.
Laurie embraced life. She was active in her church and enjoyed volunteering for cat shelters. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Stittgen. She is survived by her life partner of 42 years, Lester B. Dorsey, her mother, Virginia Porras and step-father David Porras (Charlotte, NC), her brothers John Stittgen (Frederick, MD), Dale Stittgen, (Charlotte, NC), and her step-brothers Jeffrey Porras (Phoenix AZ) and Jay Porras (Arlington Heights, IL), as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Laurie will be missed by her friends and family. Her trust in her Lord Jesus Christ was the anchor of her soul. We know we’ll see her again one day.
