Leonard Walter Kowalewski

Leonard Walter Kowalewski, age 81, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025. Born on September 8, 1943, in New Jersey, he was the beloved only child of the late Walter and Anna Kowalewski.

Leonard was raised in South River, New Jersey, where he graduated from South River High School. He went on to attend Texas A&M University and later earned his degree from Monmouth College. He married the love of his life, Elaine Salerno, and together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.

Leonard is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Salerno Kowalewski; his three cherished daughters: Laura (Randy) Fox, Teresa (Mike Lawrence), and Susan (Joe Ballew); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren—each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Throughout his distinguished career in the beverage industry, Leonard held leadership roles with Anheuser-Busch, Standard Brands, GCC Beverages, and ultimately Coca-Cola. His work with Coca-Cola took him and Elaine around the globe, fueling his passion for travel and adventure. Known for his warmth, integrity, and spirited sense of humor, Leonard’s signature “dad jokes” were a source of delight to all who knew him.

A man of deep faith, Leonard was a dedicated member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where he served faithfully with the Knights of Columbus for many years. He cherished the fellowship of his church community and particularly enjoyed his regular poker games at St. Ann’s.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Leonard’s life at a visitation on Wednesday, August 20, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a Rosary to end the visitation, at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 21, at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Leonard’s legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in his honor to Knights of Columbus charities.
