Mrs. Mary Hickman Smith, 92 of Woodstock passed away July 8, 2012. Mary was born to the late Nettie Willie and Charles Wesley Hickman on May 3, 1920 in Atlanta, GA. Her parents were the founders of Hickman’s BBQ. She was a proud native Atlantan and a wonderful southern cook. Mary was a loving and nurturing person and a loyal Braves fan. She enjoyed her work as a secretary at Ft. McPherson. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Cread H. Smith, son, David Smith and brothers, Frank Hickman and Charles Hickman. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Smith, daughter-in-law, Cathy Smith, grandchildren, David “Butter” Smith (Christina) and Michelle Smith and great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Hunter Smith. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in the chapel at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill, Marietta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
