Patricia (Pat) Ann Brantley, age 80, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on March 11, 2026. A native of Chickamauga, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Ralph McKinney and Mary Ruth Cline McKinney, both of whom preceded her in death.
Pat attended Gordon Lee High School where she was Valedictorian of the 1963 class. After high school, Pat attended Mercer University where she became a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She devoted several years to education teaching fourth and fifth grades on Warner Robins Air Force base and as a public school teacher in Houston County, Georgia, where she made a lasting impact on her students.
The roles Pat relished most of all were as a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. Pat was the very proud mom of her son, Leland Wayne “Lee” Brantley of Marietta, Georgia and her daughter, Laura Brantley Grooms of Marietta, Georgia. She was a loving grandmother to her three wonderful grandchildren: Amelia Brantley, Anna Kate Brantley, and Brantley Grooms, who she adored beyond anything.
Pat was known for her steadfast faith and love for the Lord. This faith was shown in her kindness, dedication and generosity to all she met. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued, and her bright spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She took great joy in volunteering and helping others. For many years Pat was a dedicated member of the Junior League of Marietta as well as an appreciated volunteer at all the schools her children attended. In her spare time, Pat cherished time with her family, especially birthdays, holidays and annual beach trips. She enjoyed cooking (though she equally enjoyed dining out), traveling, crosswords and sudoku puzzles, and needlepoint. Pat also had a special place in her heart for her beloved poodle, Domino, for 19 years.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Brantley; her son, Lee Brantley; her daughter, Laura Grooms (Lance); and her cherished grandchildren, Amelia Brantley, Anna Kate Brantley, and Brantley Grooms. She is also survived by her uncle, Lynn Cline and his wife, Dianne, and their daughter, Stephanie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, in the chapel of HM Patterson & Son, Canton Hill.
To honor and celebrate her vibrant life, guests are warmly invited to wear color to the service.
