Samuel Eugene (Gene) Trull Sr., passed away peacefully at his home in Kennesaw, GA, on July 13, 2025. He was born on June 15, 1935, in Monroe, NC, to the late John and Mattie Mae Trull. He was preceded in death by five siblings, John W. Trull, Elizabeth Trull Carpenter, Christine Trull Tarlton, Clara Trull Crump, and Louise Trull McCollum.
In 1965, Gene and his wife, Marie moved from North Carolina to the Atlanta area, where he pursued a career with Railway Express Agency. He had a lifelong interest in railroads and later spent nearly 40 years in the food industry, working in sales for Flowers Bakery, Pepperidge Farm/Campbell Soup, and Kellogg’s Snack Division.
Gene had a deep and abiding love for the Lord, which shaped his life. A devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church, Gene served faithfully with Marie in various ministries since 1971. He especially enjoyed working in the baby nursery and helping new parents feel welcome. He also served as a Deacon and was known for his humble, caring spirit and deep love for his family and church.
Gene is survived by Marie, his beloved wife of 69 years and their children, Sharon Trull Cook (Jeff), Gene Trull, Jr. (Leigh), Scott Trull (Stephanie), and Robin Trull McGaha (John).
He is also survived by his brother, Maurice Trull, ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren—all of whom he cherished deeply.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Eastside Baptist Church on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 11:00am. A visitation with the family will take place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at HM Patterson Canton Hill Chapel.
