

Suzanne Francis Xavier was a special Halloween treat born to Marina and Neville Xavier on October 31, 1964 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the first of two daughters they were blessed with. After a short illness she entered into an eternal rest at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA on September 26, 2015. Suzanne started her religious life at St. Theresa’s where she was baptized. She then received her first communion and confirmation at St. Mary Magdaline in Queens, NY where she sang in the choir with her sister. After relocating to Marietta, GA she became a member of Turner Chapel AME where she served in various ministries including the church choir, and food ministry with Reverend Moore. Suzanne used her artistic talent to write an original Christmas play and it was performed at Turner Chapel AME.
Her early education began at P.S. 9 in Brooklyn, NY and after relocating to Laurelton, Queens attended P.S. 156, Tri Community Junior HS and Springfield Gardens HS. She then went to LaGuardia Community College in Queens, NY where she received an Honors Certificate in Medical Office, University of Houston, Houston, TX where she explored her passion for graphic arts, Medix College in Smyrna, GA where she received an Honors Certificate in Medical Assisting, and Chattahoochee Technical College where she studied Pre-nursing.
Suzanne worked for Tascor at IBM in Uniondale, NY for 2 years as a Branch Office Coordinator. She was sent to Atlanta on a 2 week temporary assignment to do a knowledge transfer of workload being assumed by Georgia personnel. Due to her high performance, she was one of a select few offered a job in the Atlanta location and she accepted. Once in Georgia, she worked in customer service related positions for IBM, CGS, and Ryla. Her compassion and caring nature sought expression in the medical field which was her first love. For over a decade she was privileged to have to the honor of doing work that was meaningful to her. She most recently worked for Verizon at Alorica in Kennesaw, GA.
In 1985, Suzanne met and married Rodney Knox. From this blessed union came one son, Dominique Orlando Knox. She was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to the care and happiness of her son.
She had a variety of nick names such as Pumpkin, Suzie, and Suzie Q and was affectionately called Aunty by numerous young people that gravitated to her fun loving personality. Her larger than life persona and youthful spirit was evident in her love of all things current. Always on the pulse of new music, fashion trends, and culture, she was a patron of the arts. Uniquely gifted in visual arts, she was a talented painter. As a young girl she studied dance at Gloria Jackson, Dance Explosion, and Adrienne Dance Experience in Queens. As an adult she was very light on her feet and extremely up to date on the latest moves. She was an avid sports lover and a die-hard Jets fan.
Suzanne cherished her family and friends. She leaves to mourn her son Dominique Orlando Knox of Marietta, GA, her mother Marina Xavier of Ft Lauderdale, Fl, three sisters Arlene Asherah Xavier also of Ft Lauderdale, Fl, Sherry Cruz and Michelle Thomas both of Phoenix, AZ, one Aunt Barbara Reid of Queens, NY, one niece Myesha Thomas and one great niece Nia both of San Diego, CA, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and many dear and loving friends.
