

Timothy Jerome Carpenter, 67, of Marietta, went to the Lord’s Care in his sleep early Sunday morning, February 27, 2011. Born in Coal Fork, WV, his family moved to Cleveland, OH before settling in Marietta. He retired from Lockheed-Martin in Marietta in 2005 after 27 years of service. A skilled tool craftsman and welder, he worked in test and experimental services. An army veteran, his valor and tenacity garnered him the Silver Star for heroism in battle. He loved music, singing, travel, being an outdoorsman and his family. He was a cherished husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, and friend. He was a mason, a member of American Legion as well as the Oakdale Moose Lodge in Smyrna. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Timothy Dean Carpenter, father, Emmett Carpenter, and Mother Rose Nagye Carpenter. He is survived by his loving wife and soul-mate, Mari Price Carpenter, of Marietta; daughter, Robin Carpenter Bishop (husband, Allan); treasured granddaughters, Cassidy and Jenna Bishop, and Malerie Smith; stepdaughter, Cheryl Potate Smithl; beloved sister, Janice Gill, of Acworth; brother, Ken Carpenter (wife, Jo), of Chesapeake, VA; solid rocks in his life, his uncle and aunts, his endearing sisters-in-law, Patsy and Lesa, and dear to his heart, his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 3, at 2:00 PM in Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rodney Hunt officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 5 – 8 PM and 1 – 2 PM Thursday, prior to the service.
