Tyler Self

Tyler DeShaun Self was born on November 29, 1987 in Atlanta, GA to the union of Willie and Shirley Self. On April 1, 2022 his journey in this world ended and he entered into the heavenly gates of our Father.

Tyler graduated from Pope High School, where he played football, soccer, and wrestling. He was dedicated to each sport he played and lettered in all. Tyler's performance on the mat in wrestling led him to win state titles. He attended Newberry College on a wresting scholarship.

Tyler's love of cooking led him to a degree in culinary arts from Kennesaw State University. After completing his studies he won a position as a Chef for the Four Seasons Hotel here in Atlanta. He loved cooking so much that in between his shifts at the hotel he began doing meal preps for family and friends. Everyone loved his cooking and he loved to cook for them. Tyler was a true host and loved to entertain. Everyone who knew him knew that he was the life of the party and the King of entertaining. With his infectious laughter and smile that brightened every room he entered you were always sure to have a good time whenever he was around. At every event and/or holiday you could rest assured that your glass was always full and plates were never empty from the many delicious meals and drinks he made. He truly had a talent in the kitchen and enjoyed sharing that talent with everyone.

Tyler is survived by his parents, Willie and Shirley Self; brother, Kyle Self; Grandmother, Lucille Self (Cleveland, OH); Uncle, Clarence Self Jr. (Kathryn); Aunt, Priscilla Tucker (Piscataway, NJ); Cousins, Marcia Ferrara, Michele Tucker, Ellen Garnes (New Jersey), Chad Self, Corin Self, Kaitlyn Self (Cleveland, OH); Hillarey Richards (Michael) two special honorary nieces Bailey Weaver and Peyton Richards (Atlanta, GA). He'll also be eternally missed by a host of other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel. A reception will immediately follow the Memorial Service until 5:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
