Walter Thomas Brown

Walter Thomas Brown, age 74, of Marietta, GA, passed away on March 29, 2016. Born September 26, 1941 in Henderson, NC, he was the son of the late Doris Jackson Brown and Joshua S. Brown. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Mt Zion United Methodist Church in Marietta, GA. Rev. Susan Landry and Rev. Padgett Nelson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service with a reception to follow the service in the Family Life Center. A graduate of Middleburg High School, Middleburg, NC, and North Carolina State University, he was an active member of Mt Zion UMC for 43 years. His love of protecting our natural resources was evident by his many years of devoted service, including 37 years with the National Park Service. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Louise Holloway Brown of Marietta, GA; son Scott Thomas Brown, Sr. (Melissa) of Lake Mary, FL; son Stephen Holloway Brown (Ginger) of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Scott Thomas Brown, Jr. (Lauren), Emily Katherine Brown of Tallahassee, FL, William Harrison Brown and Lily Elizabeth Brown of Augusta, GA. He is also survived by one sister, Elaine Brown Jennings (Terry) of Knightdale, NC, and was preceded in death by his brother, James Scott Brown.
