Barbara Ann Newton

She was born in McDowell County on June 10, 1941 to the late Clifton Fortune and Jospehine Mason Fortune. She was a lifelong member of West Marion Baptist Church serving her Lord thru the ministry of The Women’s Missionary Union. She also loved NASCAR, enjoyed flying in both airplanes and helicopters, while loving her family as much as she could. She was preceded in death by her husband; James Mack Newton and her parents Clifton and Josephine Fortune. She was employed by Drexel Heritage Furniture Company for many years.

Mrs. Newton is survived by two sons; David Newton and wife Nancy of Mt. Airy, Georgia and Bradley Newton of the home. She was blessed to have two grandchildren; Jerad and Jason Newton.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Kirksey Funeral Home of Marion, NC at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Mark Gold officiating. The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the services, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home on

Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
