

Ethel Valley Hipps Hartline, 86, of Marion, NC, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, October 30, 2017, surrounded by members of her loving family, at Beth Sholom Village, in Virginia Beach, VA.
Mrs. Hartline was born in Portsmouth, OH, to the late Michael Hipps and Bessie Mangum Hipps. She grew up on Dysartsville Road in Morganton, NC, graduated from Glen Alpine High School, and attended Berea College in Kentucky.
She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Marion. She was a retired sales associate and seamstress from BC Moores and Sons and also worked throughout her life as a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Hartline loved to sew, knit, crochet, and many other crafts and she enjoyed volunteering and giving to others in need. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who adored and cherished her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers Dennis Hipps, and George Mangum Hipps, and her sisters Katherine Staton and Mary Moore.
Surviving Mrs. Hartline are her sisters Garnett Bolding of Hickory, NC and Nancy Davis of Nebo, NC, and her children Susan Fouts of Lehigh Acres, FL, Mary Joanne Burger of Glendale, CA, James Hartline of Hollywood, FL, Samuel Hartline of Broken Arrow, OK, David Hartline of Denton, NC, and John Hartline of Chesapeake, VA. She has twenty-one grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service celebrating her life, will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at First Free Will Baptist Church in Marion, with Pastor Brian Bird officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
