Finley Romis Norris

Marion, NC

Finley Romis Norris, age 88, of Marion, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at John F. Keever Solace Center with his loving family at his bedside.

He was born on June 6, 1927 in Watauga County, NC to the late Granville Newton Norris and Mattie Mae Brown Norris and he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marion.

Mr. Norris worked as a Time Standard Supervisor for the Department of Transportation and was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Finley also very much enjoyed the game of golf during his lifetime.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Irene Norris; a brother, Jack Norris; and three sisters, Allie Murray, Lucille McCurry, and Grace Norris.

Surviving Mr. Norris are one son, Ron and wife Angie Norris and one grandson, Taylor Norris, all of Asheville, NC; one brother, Bobby and wife Doris of Henderson, Texas; and four sisters, Iva Dean Day of Boone, NC, Betty Clinard of Millers Creek, NC, Ginny Lewis of High Point, NC and Shirley Fisher of Rockhill, SC.

A Funeral Service will be held at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Terry Gardner officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
