

She was born September 24, 1920 in Glenwood, NC to the late Alexander Rudolph McCulloch and Margaret McNeely McCulloch. Mrs. Gleichmann attended and graduated from many colleges including: Phifer Jr. College, Appalachian State University, Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, Asheville College, University of Rhode Island, University of Maryland, John Hopkins University and University of New Jersey. She was a retired school teacher after teaching 46 years in the Maryland School System. She loved teaching and her students, many who still kept in close contact with her.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, August O. Gleichmann; two brothers, Samuel McCulloch and David Harold McCulloch; and one sister, Lucille Bryant.
Surviving are one brother, John G. McCulloch of Gastonia, NC, his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Randy Milling of Belmont, NC, son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Terri McCulloch of Gastonia, NC and his son John C. McCulloch of Cape Carteret, NC who all took part in helping take care of her for these last years of her life. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jim Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
