George Donald Mace

Mr. George Donald Mace, age 75 of Marion, NC, passed away at Hospice of Rutherford County, Forest City, NC on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born on July 16, 1938 to the late Mr. Newton Harold Mace and Mrs. Lilley Mae Arrowood Mace. Mr. Mace was preceded in death by a spouse, Mrs. Mary Belle Mace; two brothers, Mr. Jerry Mace and Mr. Danny Mace, one sister; Mrs. Violet Stamey and a grandson, T.J. Talley.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Shirley Flack Mace of the home, daughters Helen Clark and husband Clifford of Nebo; Mary Mace and husband James of Marion; Judy Meeker and husband Gerald of Monroe, NC; Kandra Alexander and husband Brian of Lexington, NC.; Shirley Brooks of Marion, Glenda Cole and husband Dan of Marion, and Gail Atchley and husband Joe of York, SC. Three sons survive, Grady Brooks and wife Kristan of Burnsville, Toby Talley and wife Anna of Marion and Donnie Talley and wife Angie also of Marion. He is survived by two brothers; Juel Mace and wife Elizabeth of Marion, Loran Mace and wife Carolyn of Granite Falls, NC and two sisters; Barbara Clark and husband Wayne, and Sarah Virginia Love of Marion.

Mr. Mace is survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. His family was the love of his life.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at McCall Kirksey Chapel at Marion, NC beginning at 3:00 PM. Rev.’s John Cope, Brian Alexander and Mr. James Mace will be conducting the services. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Burial will follow the services at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are welcomed and appreciated. Those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to make them to either Hospice of Rutherford County, The General Fund at Dysartsville Baptist Church, or Gideons International.
