Howard "Sonny" Lee Patrick

Mr. Howard Lee "Sonny" Patrick, 70, of Marion, passed away, Saturday, August 23, 2014 while at his residence, surrounded by his family. Born May 4, 1944, in McDowell County, he was a son of the late Birder Patrick and Nannie Freshour. In addition to his parents, Mr. Patrick was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Edward Patrick and Harold Dean Patrick, a sister, Joyce Patrick Woody. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served in the US Army until his retirement. He loved reading, golf, bowling and fishing, but most of all, his family.

Mr. Patrick leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 29 years, Joan Patrick, of the home;

Two daughters, Jeanette Poteat and Debra Holt & husband, Jack, all of Marion;

A step-daughter, Diana Bradley & husband, Pete, of Marion;

A brother, James Patrick, of Lenoir;

Two sisters, Helen Young and Barbara Randolph, both of Marion;

Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren will also cherish his memory.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August, 2014, in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion, with the Reverend Dean Owenby officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Rd., Marion, NC 28752.
