

Jennings Boyd McCoy, 95, of Marion, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. Born on May 13, 1917 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late William McCoy and Georgia Bailey McCoy.
Mr. McCoy served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He enjoyed gardening, metal and wood working and he was an avid inventor. He loved and cherished his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helen Lowery McCoy; sisters, Louise Broome, Wilma McCoy, Arietta Finley and Annie Mae Vickers; brothers, Ralph McCoy, Paul McCoy and Grady McCoy; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pauline and Clyde Mills.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Parker and her husband, Johnny of Hickory; son, Thomas McCoy and his wife, Kathy of Marion; grandchildren, April Winograd and her husband, Joseph, Ashley McCoy-Bruce and her husband, James, Natasha Gillenwater and her husband, Adam and Sierra Bauman; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Jordan McCoy-Bruce, Olivia and Benjamin Winograd and Malachi Bauman.; brother-in-law, Carl Lowery; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Terry Lowery; special friends, Karen, Stacy, Kathryn and Emily Crisp.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion with the Reverends Ashley and James McCoy-Bruce and the Reverend Jeff Hall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013 at McDowell Memorial Park.
