Leonard Lee Parker

He was born September 26, 1927 in McDowell County, NC to the late Ed and Ann Parker. Mr. Parker was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel D. Parker; his son, David E. Deaton; his grandson, Gino Deaton; his brothers, George and Robert Parker; and his sister, Lucy Self.

Gete was a devout Christian and member and deacon of Vein Mountain Baptist Church. He had 40 years of perfect attendance in Sunday School. He retired from Drexel Furniture. Gete was also a member of Glenwood Fire Department 1965-1991.

Surviving are one granddaughter, Tierney D. Revis and husband, Robby; one great-grandson, Jarryd Revis; a daughter-in-law, Catherine C. Deaton; longtime friend, J.D. Proctor; a “special son”, Jim Lytle and wife, Diane and their children, Lacey and Jacob Lytle; several nieces and nephews; also surviving are Gete’s beloved church family.

Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 Vein Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Gouge officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
