Maggie Pope Smith

She was born March 14, 1920 in McDowell County, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband, Casey Smith; her parents, Faith and Bessie Pope Smith; one brother, George Pope; and two sisters, Willie Morgan and Mary Lee Williams.

Surviving Ms. Smith are one son, Daniel Smith and wife, Carol of Old Fort; two daughters, Barbara Vess and husband, Danny of Old Fort and Lucy Vess and husband, Russell of Marion; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, James Smith of Marion; and two sisters, Ruth Elliott and Eunice Shew both of Marion.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the funeral home with Preacher Donald Justice officiating. Interment will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
