Mary Helen Rutherford

Mary Helen (Jackson) Rutherford, 80, passed away on Saturday, December 24, following an extended illness at Maple Grove Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro, NC. A native of McDowell county, she was born on May 12, 1931, to the late Esther Brown and James Jackson. Mary will be remembered as a loving mother and sister, as well as a public servant to her church and community. Aside from being widowed, she was preceded in death by her son: Louis Allen Young, Jr, and daughter: Priscilla (Young) Johnson. She is survived by 2 daughters: Mariolyn (Young) Clarillo and Debra Jean Young, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great- grandchildren. Life celebration service will be conducted on Saturday, December 31 at her home church, Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. The wake will be at 1pm, followed by service at 2pm. Dr. Michael Smith will be officiating.
