

Mrs. Shirley Rettie Daniels, 85, of Marion, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. Born on February 27, 1928 in Dallas, TX, she was the daughter of the late George Webster and Gertrude Horr Webster.
Mrs. Daniels loved teddy bears, her favorite color purple, wearing all styles of hats, gardening and dancing. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a member of the Sweet Adelines in New Mexico. She was also a director and a consultant for Mary Kay.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, George Rettie who died in 1981 and her second beloved husband, Raymond Edward Daniels, Jr. who died in 2013; her grandson, Michael; and her step-son, Raymond Edward Daniels, III.
She is survived by her children, George Rettie, Karen Rettie and Gordon Rettie and his wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Rachel, Tina, Kenny, Brian, Amy and Steven; and her sister-in-law, Judith Mead and her husband, Carl.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Daniels will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2014 in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held following at 12:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.
