Wilbur Carson, age 67, of Marion, NC, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Carson was born in McDowell Co,. on November 14, 1948 to the late Roy L. Carson and Geneva Logan Carson.
He attended Addie’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was retired.
Mr. Carson was a jack of all trades. Some called him a renaissance man, and he was someone who could wear many hats. He loved helping others and was someone you could rely on. He loved going fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to cook, barbeque and fry fish. Mr. Carson never met a stranger and he had the most kind and loving heart. He will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to have known and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Surviving Mr. Carson are his wife, Gloria Tate Carson, of the home; a son, Ace (Mary) Carson of Spartanburg, SC; three step-children, Joseph Wilkerson of Glen Alpine, NC, Buffy Wilkerson and Franklin Wilkerson of Nebo, NC; a brother, Marvin (Linda) Carson of Glen Alpine, NC; two sisters, Evelyn Carson and Priscilla Garrison, both of Marion; a special friend and father figure, Larry King and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on September 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Addie’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Peguese and Reverend Justin Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
