Frank McCurley Jr.

Frank McCurley, Jr., 78 of Markle passed away at 6:31am on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital. Frank had worked as a bell hop at the Hotel LaFontaine in his younger years. He worked at the Kmart Distribution Center in Fort Wayne for over 39 years, retiring in 1993. He liked to follow IU Basketball and enjoyed gardening and working outdoors. He loved spending time with his family.

Frank was born on April 4, 1935 in Scuddy, Kentucky, a son of Frank and Harriet (Spencer) McCurley, Sr.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy M. McCurley for 33 years; she preceded him in death on May 11, 2004.

Survivors include two sons: Jeff (Judy) Cross of Huntington; Kenneth (Renee) Cross of Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters: Cheryl (Ron) Lapp of LaOtto, IN; Melody Serrato of Texas; stepson: Wendall Schweyer of Fort Wayne; a brother: Kenneth (Dorothy) McCurley of Fort Wayne; a sister: Jean (Gary) Conley of Huntington; three grandchildren: Brandi Cross, Eric Cross, Colt Cross; three step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank McCurley, Sr. and Harriet (Spencer) Williams and an infant son: Terry McCurley.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 from 1:00 – 3:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 3:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Pastor Elzie Spencer officiating.

Interment will be at the Markle Cemetery.
