Harold Dean Lloyd, 85 of Warren went to be with His Lord at 5:45 am on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital. Harold graduated as a Jackson Jaguar from Jackson Township High School. He received his Master’s Degree at Ball State University. He served his country with honor on two occasions during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was stationed at Eielson AFB in Alaska and Lockbourne AFB in Ohio. He was a member of the American Legion Post #111 in Bluffton. His various careers included high school biology teacher at Broad Ripple High school and Arlington High School in Indianapolis, Bluffton High School in Bluffton, Indiana, Science Professor for Indiana Central College of Indianapolis and Lutheran School of Nursing in Fort Wayne. Throughout the years, he was a sales representative for Ashland Oil Company, World Book Encyclopedias, Guardian and McJon Photo, and Newton Advertising, for whom he worked until age 83. In addition, he was a summer park ranger at Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota. He was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed nature, hobby trains, museums, and taking candid photos of his family. He loved Bugs Bunny cartoons and Garfield books. He was a member of the Church of Christ wherever he lived, most recently the Markle Church of Christ. Harold was born on the family homestead in Jackson Township, Wells County, IN on January 1, 1933 the son of Walter G. and Nellie Mae (Will) Lloyd. He was united in marriage to Jeneane R. Shriner on November 21, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Uniondale, Indiana. His wife survives. Harold was a loving father of three sons: Verle R. (Kendra) Lloyd of Berne; Kyle D. Lloyd of Marion; Lyle G. Lloyd of Fort Wayne and a daughter: Vonda K. (Doug) Bradt of Dillman, IN; additional survivors include a brother: Samuel W. Lloyd of Englewood, Florida; a sister: Marilyn N. Pugh of Montpelier; five grandchildren: Kassie, Bryan, Andrew, Connor, and Colton and three great granddaughters: Olivia, Kiva and Hannah. He was preceded in death by a son: Merle B. Lloyd, three brothers: Garrett E. Lloyd, Donald H. Lloyd, Clyde E. Lloyd and a sister: Pauline Boxell. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ 455 E. Morse Street, Markle, Indiana Memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ with Gerald O. Moreland officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Marion National Cemetery.
