

Joann A. Byer, 83 a long time resident of Ossian and Markle passed away at 12:16 am on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital. Joann was a 1949 graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne. Joann was a devoted wife to her husband Vernon and the proud mother of three daughters. She was a homemaker, talented seamstress, bargain shopper who loved antiques, flea markets and finding a good deal. She was also a fantastic cook and often enjoyed socializing with family at gatherings at her home. She had a calm, warm and caring personality that brought joy to the lives she touched with her kind nature and beautiful smile. She had attended the Ossian United Methodist Church and was a member of the Red Hats Society.
Joann was born on October 16, 1931 in New Haven, IN, a daughter of Thomas and Vera (Hamilton) Stoner.
She was united in marriage to Vernon W. Byer on June 23, 1951 in Fort Wayne.
Survivors include her husband: Vernon, her eldest daughter: Michelle Byer-McLaughlin and her twin daughters: Teresa Byer and Tamera Kinnaird and three grandchildren: Hans Winterhalter, Shanah McLaughlin and Liam Kinnaird all who she loved with an open heart and brought her much happiness for many years.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Thomas Stoner and a sister: Jeannie Dunlap.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11:00 am, following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel.
Interment will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian, Indiana.
