L.D. Humbarger, 79 of Huntington and formerly of Markle, passed away on Thursday morning November 13, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. L.D. graduated from Spencerville High School in Ohio in 1964. He then served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 during the the Vietnam conflict. L.D. was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After his time in the Military, L.D. worked as a Union Painter for over 30 years. In his spare time L.D. loved to golf, fish, and raise rabbits. One of his proudest achievements was winning at the National Show and Convention. He was a member of the Markle Church of Christ Church and College Park United Brethren Church. L.D. was a huge fan of both Ohio State and the New York Yankees. He was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren.
L.D. was born on June 4, 1946 in Hicksville Ohio, a son of the late Loren Delton and Lois (Bassett) Humbarger.
He was united in marriage to Karen Ort on March 1, 1969 in Fort Wayne. His wife survives in Huntington.
Additional survivors include three sons: Jeff (Rashell) Humbarger of Roanoke, Jason Humbarger of Fort Wayne, and Jarrod (Abby) Humbarger of Warsaw; a brother: Ed (Dwana) Humbarger of Blackstone MA; a sister: Darlene Carr of St. Joe Indiana; seven grandchildren: Katrena Saillant of South Carolina, Bianca Humbarger of Fort Wayne, Cordell Humbarger of Fort Wayne, Brittany Humbarger of Roanoke, Coby Humbarger of Evansville, Emma Humbarger of Roanoke, Sadie Humbarger of Warsaw; and two great grandchildren: Eddie Saillant and Charlie Saillant; and a sister-in-law: Carol Humbarger of St. Joe Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Duane Humbarger, Jerry Humbarger, and Glen Humbarger; and a brother-in-law: Nick Carr.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday November 18, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ located at 455 E. Morse St. Markle IN 46770.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of calling prior to the service at the Markle Church of Christ.
Interment will be at the Marion National Cemetery in Marion Indiana.
