Ann (Larmour) Severson passed away peacefully on December 18, surrounded by family. She was 3 weeks shy of her 101st birthday, and she lived a wonderfully blessed life. Funeral Services will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home, 129 Coleman Street in Marlin, Texas on Saturday, December 29. A short visitation will precede the funeral at 10:00 am. Service will begin at 11:00 am, with graveside burial immediately following.
Ann was born to Henry and Sybil Larmour on a small farm outside of Lott, Texas on January 8, 1918. She was the oldest of five girls. Family was everything to Ann, and she was devoted to her parents, sisters, husband, children and grandchildren. She was raised on the farm during the Great Depression in near poverty, however her many stories of childhood were filled with nothing but sweet, wonderful memories. Her nickname from childhood was Sweet, which she was called by those who knew her well throughout her life.
Ann met Dick Severson, from Albert Lea, Minnesota, while working at Bryan Field in Bryan, Texas, where Dick was stationed in the early part of WWII. Their love affair continued through letters as he was stationed at various places across the world during the war. They married immediately after Dick was discharged in 1945. They made their home in Marlin, Texas, where they raised their four boys, and were married 65 years before Dick’s passing in 2010. Ann was a devoted wife and mother, involved in every aspect of her boys’ lives. When her youngest son started school, she began a 20-year career as a teacher’s aid in the Marlin School District. She later doted on her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ann had other loves that extended beyond family. She loved the Aggies, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers, with Rusty Greer being her all-time favorite player. She loved to follow her favorite golfers, Phil Mickelson and later Jordan Spieth. She loved working in her yard, and took great pride in her flowers and shrubs. Lastly, she loved her cats, and collected many fortunate strays in her lifetime, much to the chagrin of her husband, Dick. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sybil Larmour, her husband, Dick, her son, Ricky, and her four sisters, Grace, Cora, Mary, and Sybil. Ann is survived by her three sons, Dick (Marcy), Micky (Kathy), and Nicky, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dolly Cobb and Terri Cobb for their faithful service and friendship with Ann after Dick’s passing.
