Bethel Janie Wubenhorst

Janie was born at home on July 18th, 1931 in Ray County Missouri, the daughter of Edward E & Marie G. Lynn. They didn’t think she was going to make it so her father placed her on the oven door to warm her up. Janie graduated for East High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She Married Richard Frances Wubenhorst in 1950. Richard (Dutch) was in the Navy and they lived all over the United States and in Naples Italy. They were married 32 years. Janie fell in love again and married Paul F. Washay in 1993. Janie worked at Sears and was a model as a young women. She worked at Sangamon cards for many years and at Rohr Industries in engineering release for 15 years. Janie graduated from Southwestern College with her AA degree at the age of 50. Janie lived in Chula Vista, California for 48 years before moving to Marlin, Texas in 2016. She belonged to many clubs and organizations over the years, including Beta Sigma Phi, Lions Club, Republican Women, American Foreign Legion and the Navy Wives Club. Janie was also a PTA Mom, a Camp Fire Girl leader, a high school and college honors society member and a hospital volunteer for over 20+ years. Janie loved and enjoyed traveling. She traveled all over the world, including Japan, Greece, Turkey, England, Ireland and Scotland to name a few. She loved to read, sew, cook, camp and over the last several years she enjoyed completing puzzles and watching her patio birds. Janie had a heart of GOLD and a contagious smile. Every person who knew her loved her. Many would say she was very thrifty and could squeeze every last penny out of every thing. Janie had her 90th birthday in July of 2021 and she was truly the Queen at her black tie event.

Preceded in death by her parents and brother Donald E. Lynn, her son Richard Frances Wubenhorst Jr. Her husband Paul Frances Washay and Richard Frances Wubenhorst Sr. and her Great grandson Nicholas Scott Stephenson.

Survivors include: Charles P. Wubenhorst (Lorry) of Kimberling City Missouri, Bonnie L. Doddridge (Phil) of San Jacinto, California, Lesa K. Balders (Eric) of Marlin Texas, Step-children Paul Washay of New York and Paulette Washay of Wisconsin. Grandchildren, Richard S. Stephenson (Trish), Carrie Cameron (Ian), Hans Balders, Makayla Campos (Phillip) Julia Prafke, Gina Rowe and Alan Wubenhorst. Great–Grandchildren Ashley, Amanda, Jessie, Charlotte, Audrey, Owen and Chrishelle. Great-Great Grandchildren Peyton, Jaxon, Kaenon, Jaycen, Christian and Sarah numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
