

Billie Hy Heflin Maxwell, 87, of Marlin, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 in a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Hillcrest Cemetery with the Reverend Lynn Starnes officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 20th at Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Maxwell was born on July 11, 1927 in Marlin, Texas to Alvin J. “Hy” and Willie Mae “Bill” (Winzer) Heflin. She grew up in Reagan, Texas and graduated from Reagan High School in 1944. Mrs. Maxwell attended 4–C College in Waco and started work at what was Marlin National Bank in 1945. She married Hedrick Marshall Maxwell, Jr. on July 20, 1946 and they celebrated 43 wonderful years together until his death in 1989. They moved to Crockett, Texas in January 1951. In 1956 the family moved back to Marlin and in 1962 she went back to work at Marlin National bank until she retired in 1993. The bank changed names several times while she was employed there. Mrs. Maxwell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marlin. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
Survivors include her daughter; Marsha Gail Haak and her husband, Terry of Marlin, son; Jerry Maxwell and his wife Diane (Gistinger) of College Station, grandchildren; Jeremy Haak and his wife, Beth and their children, Daniel and Tifany of Mooreville, Kevin Haak of San Antonio and Kelly Kurdi and her husband, AbuBakr and their children, Uriah and Tristan of Houston, sister; Mayme Louise Garrett and her husband, O.B. (Ben) of Bryan.
Billie was a “certifiable homebody” with a warmth and caring that endeared herself to family, friends, grandkids and great grandkids. Besides family and friends, she loved cats, going to the boats with Vada, lunching with Tommye, reading and watching sports on TV.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Daniel Jarvis Home Health Agency, Golden Years Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Providence Hospice for the loving care and kindness they provided our mother. And, to her very special friend and caregiver; Charlotte Jobe.
Pallbearers are: Nephews, Bill Kemp, Johnnie Kemp, Jimmy Simons, Louis Schroeder and grandsons Jeremy Haak and Kevin Haak.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Waite Cemetery Association, 4236 FM 413, Marlin, Texas 76661, or charity of your choice.
