On Friday, April 8, 2016, Heaven received a new angel. Bunnie Huff (Jackie as she was known to family and friends) has now gone to her forever home. Bunnie was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Omaha, Texas, to Grover Cleveland and Pearlie Mae (Hartgrove) Clem. She was one of seven children in a hard-working family. As a child, the family settled in the Central Texas area.
Mama was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be truly missed.
Mama and Daddy met and married in the 1950s. He came to Texas from Nebraska to visit his sister and stayed to make his home here with Mama. They lived in Marlin, Texas, their entire married life, until Daddy’s death in 1985. Together they raised three daughters with love and care through all of life’s ups and downs.
Mama was a loving, caring compassionate person. She was a wife and mother. She considered her family her job, and put her heart and soul into her work. She was an excellent cook (the Colonel couldn’t touch her fried chicken!). We brought many friends home for meals, and she never minded. Many times, she was in the kitchen after 10 o’clock at night, cooking French fries and gravy or even spaghetti for a bunch of hungry girls. Her home was always open to our friends, becoming a gathering spot for the neighborhood.
She very much enjoyed all her family. Everyone was welcome. Brothers, wives, sisters, husbands and their families enjoyed many holidays and family gatherings with much laughter and games of 42. Family was her heart.
Mama was a caregiver. She was on hand to help family members through illness or after surgery. She gave her time and energy to those she loved. She also did babysitting at home for many years, with these kids becoming like family.
Mama and her friend and neighbor Pearlie spent many afternoons and evenings playing Yahtzee. The were as fun and entertaining to watch as to play with.
She was a lady with a quick and wonderful sense of humor, and always had a snappy comeback. It wasn’t wise to think you had gotten one over on her!
She spent her 93 years with a faith that God watched over His children, that if God brought you to it, He would for sure get you through it.
Mama was preceded in death by parents Grover Cleveland and Pearlie Mae Clem; husband Charles; siblings Claudie Lee Clem, Johnnie Clem, Calvin M. Clem, Paul A. Clem, Ann E. Morgan and Dorothy Maxine Cameron; an infant son; special aunt Elizabeth “Liz” Faulkner; and friend Pearl Blansit.
Mama is survived by daughters Gail Biffle and husband Raymond, Brenda Hopkins and husband Milton, and Barbara Nutt and husband Bubba; grandchildren Nancy Biffle, Joyce Porterfield and husband Don, Leslie Nutt, Stacie Cox and husband James, and Justin Huff; great-grandchildren Lindsey Kimmel and husband Kobe, Shyanne Clary, Tara Pavelka, Destin Porterfield and Corah Porterfield; and great-great-granddaughter Kylie Kimmel.

Also, to Texas Home Health and Hospice, Der. Fedro, Chaplain Craig and nurses and aides, thank you for your care and compassion.
