Johnnie Elizabeth Hounsel

Johnnie Elizabeth Hounsel, 98, of Winnie, Texas passed away February 23 at The Arboretum of Winnie surrounded by family, after a battle with Alzheimers. Johnnie was born April 15,1927 to Rosie Brunson of Marlin.

Johnnie is preceded in death by her husband’s, Robert E. Wellman, Sr. and John Hounsel. Her mother Rosie Brunson, sisters Nellie Ward, Vinnie Mayhall, Lilly Mae Blann, Jimmie Townsend, brothers Allen Brunson and Buddy Brunson, and stepdaughter Mary Ann Lehrmann and granddaughter Karen Lehrmann.

Johnnie spent most of her life in Huntsville Texas, then moving to Kosse Texas before finally moving to Winnie.

Johnnie liked to cook, (we will miss her fried chicken, potato salad and pinto beans) go antiquing and helped out at the Kosse Community Center where she enjoyed playing dominoes. Especially when she would win! Spending time with her family and friends always made her so happy.

She leaves behind son Bob Wellman and wife Katie of Winnie, and son Garry Wellman and wife Laura of Richmond. Grandchildren Stephanie Sandoval, husband Tony of Beaumont, Kelly Wellman and wife Nancy Bertsch of College Station, Margo Glass, husband Clifford of Beaumont, Lindsey Frasher, husband Johnny of Richmond, Connor Elliott, wife Jalyn of Richmond, Christian McKinley, husb and Peyton of Richmond, Teresa Taylor, husband Dane of Richmond, Kem Harrity, husband John of Rosenberg, and Darren Lehrmann, wife Lori of Beaumont.

Johnnie has 11 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Woody Blann, Willie Blann, Aaron Brunson, Donald Wellman, Jerry Wellman and Mike Wellman.
